Libra Season in Reflection: Balance

Updated: Aug 27, 2023

As the season changes, we are forced to acknowledge transformation.

It's all around us!

As we close October, we are stepping into the full swing of Fall. The trees are slowly changing their wardrobes, and so are we. When revolving our closets, we also have the opportunity to recognize where else we would like to make shifts. The past month of October centered on the zodiac sign of Libra, represented by the scales. In this post we'll discuss two stones in our collection that offer balance for all the energy centers within us: Snowflake Obsidian & Sunstone. Let's Dive in.

Scales of Balance

The sun is positioned in the constellation of Libra from September 23 to October 22. This constellation is represented by the scales, so as you can imagine, Libra season is all about balance.

As scales balance quantities that are close in value, there is often a see-saw effect. As nature seeks to adjust, some days revert to summer heat(especially in Texas), and other days hit us with an unexpected chill; and that's okay!

Transformative change takes time.

*repeats the phrase above as I note the day's high of 91 degrees*

As we deal with the growing pains of transformation, may we always remember to be graceful to ourselves and one another.

Snowflake Obsidian & Sunstone

Two stones in our collection encourage us to balance all the energies within us: Snowflake Obsidian & Sunstone. These stones welcome light into states of darkness and bring hidden darkness into light.

Our latest batch of Sunstone was initially sourced from ancient lava fields of Warner Valley, Utah. Sunstone is used to decrease stress, lift us from states of depression, and bring us good luck. Black Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed in swiftly cooling lava. This Black and white stone embodies the yin and yang principles of balance and harmony reflected in darkness and light.

It is no coincidence that both these crystal types are formed in volcanic environments. The volcano's heat merges all the elements it encounters into a seamless unit. Volcanic creative energy encourages us to transform our past experiences to create what we desire now. The volcano doesn't use everything inside to form crystals; some things remain in the lava, and the heat consumes other elements. We can take this as a reminder to:

"Chew the meat, spit out the bones."

The aformentioned is another way of saying, use what you can, let go of what doesn't serve you.
